ChatGPT ads in the UAE
Can a UAE free zone company open a ChatGPT ads account?
OpenAI's rule is that the legal entity that advertises and is billed must be based in a country on the availability list. The UAE is on the list. OpenAI's table does not separate mainland from free zone entities. Read the guide
When did the UAE get access to ChatGPT ads?
OpenAI announced self service for the Middle East and North Africa on 31 August 2026. Index Lab, which tracks the availability table, logged the UAE row being added on 16 September 2026. We confirmed the UAE row ourselves on 21 September 2026. Read the guide
Do I need an agency to start running ChatGPT ads in the UAE?
No. Self service means a UAE business can sign up at ads.openai.com itself. An agency earns its fee on tracking, structure and judging the test honestly, not on access. Read the guide
Can I pay for ChatGPT ads in dirhams?
Yes. OpenAI's campaign guide lists AED as a billing currency with a minimum daily budget of AED 65. Read the guide
Can my Dubai team advertise in Saudi Arabia from the same UAE account?
Some new self service accounts can initially advertise only in their home country. An account becomes eligible for other supported countries once identity verification is approved and it reaches a required spend threshold in its home country. Read the guide
Who should own the ChatGPT ads account, us or our agency?
OpenAI's access model lets the business remain the account owner while granting an agency the Member role to build and manage campaigns. Individual advertiser onboarding and agencies creating an account on a client's behalf are not supported, so the client entity has to create the account first. Read the guide
Will my UAE landing page work if it sits behind Cloudflare?
It can, but you must allow OpenAI's crawlers. OAI-AdsBot is officially verified and allowlisted by Cloudflare, and OpenAI recommends allowing OAI-SearchBot as well. Read the guide
What ChatGPT ads are
Where do ChatGPT ads appear?
Below the end of a ChatGPT response, labelled as sponsored and visually separated from the answer. OpenAI says ads do not appear in the ChatGPT Atlas browser during the test. Read the guide
Can I target keywords in ChatGPT ads?
Not in the search ads sense. You write context hints at ad group level that describe when your offer is relevant. OpenAI says they are not exact match keywords and do not guarantee delivery in specific conversations. Read the guide
Which ChatGPT users see ads?
OpenAI says ads may appear for people on ChatGPT's unpaid tier and the Go plan. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu accounts do not have ads, and ads are not shown to accounts identified as under 18. Read the guide
Do ads appear in health conversations?
No. OpenAI says ads are not eligible to appear near sensitive or regulated topics, including personal health, mental health and politics. Read the guide
What is the structure of a ChatGPT ads account?
Three levels. A campaign sets the objective, budget and targeting. An ad group inside it groups related ads and carries the context hints. An ad inside the ad group is the actual creative shown to users. Read the guide
How is a ChatGPT ad different to a Google search ad?
A Google search ad matches a typed keyword. A ChatGPT ad is chosen from the meaning of a conversation, weighed against your ad, your landing page and the context hints you write, then ranked with your bid in a relevance weighted auction. Read the guide
Does ChatGPT write my ad copy for me?
OpenAI's suggested ad drafts feature can prefill a draft title, copy and image from your website metadata for you to review and edit, and OpenAI states it does not generate new copy or imagery with AI. Separately, in our own account we found a Creative text optimization toggle, on by default, that can generate personalised and translated versions of ad text you already wrote and serve them without your review, which is a distinct mechanism from the drafts feature. Read the guide
What might change while ChatGPT ads is in beta?
OpenAI says it expects to keep evolving delivery systems, inventory, ad formats and how advertisers buy, manage, measure and optimise campaigns, and that delivery and spend can fluctuate as a result. Read the guide
Can an ad change what ChatGPT actually says in its answer?
No. OpenAI states ads run on systems separate from the chat model and that advertisers cannot shape, rank or alter ChatGPT's responses. An ad appearing after a response is not the same as ChatGPT recommending anything inside that response. Read the guide
Is a product feed ad different from the standard six part ad unit?
Yes. A product feed campaign builds ads from your product catalogue automatically, showing image, title, stars, price and brand per item, rather than one hand written ad. OpenAI says feed based ads have been among its strongest performing to date. Read the guide
Is there a minimum budget to advertise on ChatGPT?
Yes, a minimum daily budget that varies by the account's billing currency, for example AED 65 a day for an AED billed account or USD 25 for a USD billed account. It is a floor for account settings, not a recommended test budget. Read the guide
Can a UAE business run ChatGPT ads without hiring an agency?
Yes. Ads Manager is self service, and any eligible UAE entity can create and run an account directly. See our guide on choosing a ChatGPT ads agency if you are weighing that decision. Read the guide
How to advertise on ChatGPT
How do I start advertising on ChatGPT?
Sign in at ads.openai.com with an OpenAI account, complete business and account verification, finish billing and account information, then build a campaign, ad group and ads before submitting for review. Read the guide
How long does it take to get a ChatGPT ad live?
OpenAI does not publish a timeline. Verification is reviewed in a rolling queue and can take some time, and OpenAI says to allow at least 24 hours after launch, plus up to 7 hours of reporting lag, before judging delivery. Read the guide
Do I need a website to advertise on ChatGPT?
Yes. Every ad needs a valid, reachable landing page that does not block OpenAI's crawlers, OAI-AdsBot and OAI-SearchBot, and business details including your website are required during account setup. Read the guide
What is the minimum budget to advertise on ChatGPT?
It depends on your account's billing currency. For AED it is 65 a day. This is a floor for one campaign, not a benchmark for a budget that will produce a judgable test. Read the guide
Can I advertise on ChatGPT without an agency?
Yes. Ads Manager is self service, and a UAE business can complete every step in this guide itself. An agency's value is in structure, tracking and honest judgement of the test, not in access. Read the guide
What do I need ready before I start the account setup?
Your legal business name as it appears on your trade licence, your website, logo and industry, a company card, a billing address, and one person inside the business to be account owner. Read the guide
Can I run ads before conversion tracking is installed?
You can, but we would not recommend it. A Views or Clicks campaign will deliver without it, but a Conversions campaign requires at least one supported standard conversion event, and any campaign is harder to judge honestly without measurement in place first. Read the guide
What happens if I manage several client accounts?
Each advertiser needs its own separate account. One OpenAI login can access several, but self serve account creation stops once you belong to 10 accounts in total, counting ones you created and ones you were invited to. Read the guide
Does Ads Manager write my ad copy for me?
It can. A Text customisation toggle, on by default in the campaign builder, lets AI generate and translate your headlines and descriptions, which OpenAI states may run without your individual review unless you turn it off. Read the guide
Why was my ad rejected?
OpenAI's troubleshooting guidance points to a handful of common causes: ad copy or a landing page that does not align with its ads policies, a landing page blocking OAI-AdsBot, an image that fails validation, or account verification and billing still being incomplete. The exact reason shows in the status tooltip on the Ads tab. Read the guide
What does the Ads Manager builder actually let me set on the ad itself?
A destination URL, tracking parameters with placeholders for the campaign, ad group, ad, ad account and the oppref click reference, a title capped at 50 characters, a description capped at 100 characters with a 3 character minimum, and an image, previewed live as you build it. Read the guide
OpenAI ads and Ads Manager
Is OpenAI Ads Manager the same as ChatGPT ads?
Yes. OpenAI Ads Manager, or Ads Manager Beta, is the platform advertisers use to build the campaigns that show up as ChatGPT ads inside ChatGPT. People use both names for the same programme. Read the guide
Where do I sign up for OpenAI ads?
At ads.openai.com. Self service is available for eligible countries, including the UAE, without needing a sales contact. Read the guide
Is there a cost to open an OpenAI Ads Manager account?
OpenAI documents no account or platform fee. You fund the media you buy against a minimum daily budget that depends on your billing currency, AED 65 for dirham accounts. Read the guide
Can any business advertise on OpenAI's products?
Self service is limited to businesses whose advertising and billing entity is based in a country on OpenAI's availability list, and OpenAI's stated eligibility review also considers whether your products or services are allowed under its ads policies. Read the guide
What is Ads Manager Beta, specifically?
OpenAI's own name for the current version of the platform. Beta signals that OpenAI states capabilities are still evolving and more functionality will be added over time. Read the guide
Do OpenAI ads only run inside ChatGPT?
Based on what OpenAI has published, yes. Ads appear below responses inside ChatGPT. OpenAI has not documented ad placements outside ChatGPT itself. Read the guide
What is not available to most advertisers yet?
Sponsored Agents, a format that lets a user chat with an AI representative of a business from an ad, is in a limited alpha test and not open to general advertisers. Read the guide
ChatGPT ads cost in AED
How much does a click cost on ChatGPT ads?
There is no rate card. Price is set by a relevance weighted second price auction. OpenAI recommends starting CPC campaigns with a maximum bid of 3 to 5 US dollars per click, which is roughly AED 11 to 18 at the fixed dirham peg. Read the guide
What is the minimum daily budget in the UAE?
AED 65 per day for ad accounts billed in dirhams. Neighbouring Gulf accounts differ: SAR 50 in Saudi Arabia and QAR 70 in Qatar. Read the guide
Can ChatGPT ads spend more than my daily budget?
Yes, on a single day. OpenAI treats the daily budget as an average over seven days. One day can reach twice the daily budget, and the seven day total will not exceed seven times the daily budget. Read the guide
Do I pay per lead or sale?
No. Conversion optimised campaigns are billed per valid click or per 1,000 impressions. OpenAI states you do not pay per conversion, even though delivery is optimised toward one. Read the guide
Does a higher bid guarantee my ad shows?
No. OpenAI's own troubleshooting guidance says raising your bid does not guarantee delivery. The auction weighs relevance alongside the bid, so a more relevant, better matched ad can still win. Read the guide
What is the cheapest way to test ChatGPT ads?
Start a single campaign at the AED 65 daily minimum with a Clicks objective, run it at least a week so the seven day averaging has room to work, then judge cost per click before scaling the budget. Read the guide
Does Maximize Results cost more than manual bidding?
OpenAI does not publish a comparison. Maximize Results is designed to spend your existing budget toward more results, not to raise what you spend. See our bidding strategies guide for how it changes bid setting, not budget. Read the guide
Where do ChatGPT ads actually appear, and does that affect cost?
Below the end of a ChatGPT response, labelled sponsored, in one ad unit. There is no separate cheap placement or display network to buy into, so a poorly matched ad competes at full relevance weighting rather than finding a discount corner. Read the guide
Does an agency cost extra on top of ad spend?
Media is always paid directly to OpenAI by the advertiser. An agency's own fee, whether a percentage of spend or a fixed retainer, is a separate line item on top of that, not part of what OpenAI bills. Read the guide
Why does my cost per click look different from my own analytics?
Different attribution windows, time zones, consent settings and deduplication logic between Ads Manager and your analytics tool are the most common causes OpenAI points to, before assuming either figure is wrong. Read the guide
What does OpenAI publish about typical ChatGPT ads cost by industry?
Nothing. OpenAI states ChatGPT Ads does not yet have performance benchmarks across advertisers, industries or campaign types, since the platform is still early in scaling. Read the guide
Account setup
How long does account approval take?
OpenAI does not give a time. It says applications are reviewed in a rolling queue, verification may take some time, and the person who created the account is emailed when full access is ready. Read the guide
Can an agency open the account for us?
OpenAI says each business should have one account owner create the advertiser account, and each advertiser needs its own account. The owner then invites team members. We recommend the owner is someone inside your company, with the agency added afterwards as a user. Read the guide
Why are my approved ads not serving?
Two setup items block delivery most often. The account name and logo in account info must be complete, and billing with a payment method must be fully set up. OpenAI also lists incomplete verification, an exhausted budget and a campaign end date that has passed as reasons ads stop serving. Read the guide
How many ad accounts can one login hold?
One OpenAI login can access multiple ad accounts. Once you belong to 10 or more, counting both accounts you created and accounts you were invited to, you cannot create another yourself, though you can still be invited to existing ones. Read the guide
Can a UAE company advertise in Saudi Arabia from the same account straight away?
Not always immediately. OpenAI says some new self serve accounts can initially advertise only in their home country, and become eligible for other listed countries once identity verification is approved and the account has spent enough in its home country. Read the guide
What verification does OpenAI ask for during setup?
After entering business and account details, OpenAI runs an identity verification step through a provider called Persona, then reviews the application, including whether the products or services offered are eligible under its ads policies. Read the guide
What can I actually see and do once access is granted?
An Overview screen with setup tasks and a performance trend chart, a Campaigns screen with Campaigns, Ad groups and Ads tabs, a Tools section covering Conversions, Feeds, Change History and Audiences, plus Billing and Settings. This is what we saw first hand in our own new UAE account. Read the guide
Why was my ad rejected during review?
OpenAI's most common causes are ad copy or a landing page that does not align with its ads policies, or a landing page that blocks OpenAI's own crawlers, OAI-AdsBot or OAI-SearchBot. Hover the ad's status in Ads Manager for the specific stated reason. Read the guide
Can I manage more than one advertiser's account from one login?
Yes. A person with an OpenAI login can be invited into several separate advertiser accounts and switch between them, but each advertiser still needs its own account; OpenAI does not support one shared account across unrelated brands. Read the guide
Does creating an account before my country is listed give me early access?
No. OpenAI's FAQ states plainly that creating an account does not grant access before your country is supported. You can still create one and OpenAI says it will notify you when access opens. Read the guide
Context hints
Are context hints keywords?
No. OpenAI says they are not exact match keywords or targeting rules, and they do not guarantee delivery for particular conversations or audiences. Read the guide
Can a context hint limit my ads to Dubai?
No. OpenAI says hints cannot enforce geographic limits, schedules or exclusions. Describing your service area is fine. Restricting delivery needs the supported targeting controls, such as location targeting or a custom audience. Read the guide
Where do I add context hints?
At ad group level, not the campaign or the individual ad. Group hints around one product, service, theme or customer need, and use separate ad groups when a use case needs different messaging or a different landing page. Read the guide
How often should hints change?
Whenever features, pricing, promotions, availability or service areas change. OpenAI lists accuracy as one of the four qualities of a good hint, and an outdated hint stops being accurate the moment the underlying offer changes. Read the guide
How many context hints does one ad group need?
OpenAI does not publish a fixed number or a minimum. Our approach is two to five per ad group, each covering one distinct idea, since a longer list starts covering more than one theme and usually signals the ad group should be split. Read the guide
Do context hints work differently for Arabic language ads?
OpenAI's article does not distinguish by language. The same what, who, when structure and the same four qualities apply whether the hint is written in English or Arabic. Read the guide
What is the difference between a context hint and a custom audience?
A context hint describes your offer in words, to help the system judge relevance inside a conversation. A custom audience is a list of your own customers or prospects, uploaded by email, phone or hashed identifier, used to include or exclude specific people from delivery. They work at different layers and are not substitutes for each other. Read the guide
Can I copy my Google Ads keyword list into context hints?
You can, but it usually performs worse than writing hints fresh. A keyword list is built for exact or close phrase matching against a typed query. A context hint needs to read as a natural sentence describing what, who and when, and a raw keyword list rarely reads that way. Read the guide
Do context hints affect my bid or my cost?
OpenAI does not document a direct price effect from a hint. What it does say is that relevance affects the auction, and a hint that makes your ad genuinely more relevant to real conversations can improve the outcome you get for a given bid, without hints themselves being priced. Read the guide
What happens if I leave the context hints field empty?
OpenAI's guidance frames hints as additional context you provide, not a mandatory field description with its own minimum. In practice we do not recommend leaving it empty, since the ad and landing page then carry the entire relevance signal on their own. Read the guide
Conversion tracking
What is oppref?
It is OpenAI's click reference. On an ad click it is appended to the landing page URL, for example openai.com?oppref=gAAAAAb123. The OpenAI Pixel captures it and stores it in a first party cookie so later conversion events can be tied back to that click. Read the guide
Should I use the Pixel or the Conversions API?
OpenAI recommends using both for more resilient measurement. When the same conversion is sent through both, use the same event ID so it is deduplicated rather than counted twice. Read the guide
Can I optimise toward a custom event?
Not for conversion optimised campaigns. OpenAI states that custom conversion events are not currently supported there. At least one supported standard event is required before you create the campaign. Read the guide
Why do OpenAI's conversion numbers differ from Google Analytics?
OpenAI lists attribution methods and windows, time zones, browser and consent conditions, deduplication behaviour, configuration and modelled conversions as normal causes. A difference does not necessarily mean either number is wrong. Read the guide
Why does my conversion event show 0 in Ads Manager even though it is firing?
A firing, accepted event can still show 0 if it does not match the conversion event configured for the campaign. For standard events the type must match. For custom events the name must match exactly, not just the display name. Read the guide
What is automatic advanced matching?
A Pixel feature that detects supported customer information already entered on your site, normalises it and hashes it with SHA-256 in the browser before sending it. OpenAI states that raw customer information is not sent through automatic advanced matching. Read the guide
Do old events backfill after I fix a tracking mistake?
No. OpenAI is explicit that historical events sent under a mismatched configuration will not backfill once you correct it. Test again with new, eligible traffic after the fix. Read the guide
How do I track WhatsApp or phone leads from ChatGPT ads in the UAE?
Capture the oppref click reference with the lead the moment it is created, then send the outcome, such as a qualified sale, back from your CRM through the Conversions API once it happens. Read the guide
Can I deploy the Pixel through Google Tag Manager?
Yes, as long as your tag manager loads the Pixel snippet on the correct pages and does not block or reorder the initialisation and event calls. If it prevents the Pixel loading reliably, install the snippet directly or move the event to server side measurement. Read the guide
How should I measure Shopify, a headless storefront, or server side purchases?
Use the browser Pixel for browser side events and the Conversions API for server side events. If you pass server side conversions, preserve and send the available click reference values, such as oppref, so events can be attributed correctly. Read the guide
Can I add dynamic URL parameters to my ChatGPT ads landing pages?
Yes. You can append your own text or supported macros such as campaign_id, ad_group_id, ad_id and ad_account_id, set at ad URL, ad, ad group or campaign level. The most specific level wins if the same parameter is set at more than one level. Read the guide
What is the difference between oppref and a UTM parameter?
oppref is OpenAI's own click reference, used internally to connect a conversion back to the ad click that earned it. A UTM parameter is a static tag you add yourself for your own analytics tools. They serve different systems and both are worth keeping. Read the guide
Product feed campaigns
Do feed products show up in normal ChatGPT answers?
No. OpenAI says products from your feed are only eligible for use in ads during this beta and will not appear in organic ChatGPT conversations, though it may offer that in future. Read the guide
How often must the feed update?
Items expire after two weeks, so OpenAI recommends a hosted URL or automated SFTP uploads instead of manual files. Read the guide
Can I bulk upload feed campaigns by CSV?
No. OpenAI says Ads Manager CSV upload does not currently support creating product feed campaigns. They are built in the guided workflow. Read the guide
Which bid strategy do feed ad groups use?
Maximize results is selected by default for eligible new ad groups. It adjusts bids automatically to get as many clicks or conversions as possible within budget. Read the guide
What can I actually customise in a product feed ad template?
Very little at present. OpenAI states the ad template currently only supports a selection for the image field. Titles, descriptions, prices and stars are pulled directly from your feed. Read the guide
Why is a product from my feed missing from an ad group?
Check the ad group's product filters and the feed's ads eligibility field first. Products are eligible by default unless explicitly marked false for ads eligibility, and a filter can exclude a product that is otherwise eligible. Read the guide
Can I run product feed ads without organic ChatGPT shopping too?
There is no organic option to choose between. OpenAI states feed products are only eligible for use in paid ads during this beta and do not appear in organic ChatGPT conversations at all, so every feed product you see in ChatGPT today came from a paid campaign. Read the guide
Can I reuse my Google Shopping feed for OpenAI?
Not without checking it first. OpenAI has its own feed specification, and a platform's default export does not always match it without adjustment, so validate field by field before the first upload rather than assuming compatibility. Read the guide
How many ad templates can one ad group have?
One. OpenAI states only one ad template is necessary, and currently possible, per ad group, applied to every product that passes that ad group's filters. Read the guide
Does OpenAI name the product ad format a carousel?
No. OpenAI's help articles describe formats designed specifically for catalogue items, listing images, titles, stars, prices, sale prices and brand, without giving the format a specific name such as carousel or grid. Read the guide
Does ChatGPT have ads?
Does ChatGPT Plus have ads?
No. OpenAI says Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu accounts will not have ads. Read the guide
Do ads change ChatGPT's answers?
No. OpenAI says ads run on separate systems from the chat model and advertisers cannot shape, rank or alter responses. Read the guide
Can advertisers see my chats?
No. OpenAI says advertisers do not have access to chats, chat history, memories or personal details, and receive only aggregated performance information such as views and clicks. Read the guide
Do Temporary Chats show ads?
No. OpenAI says Temporary Chats will not show ads. Read the guide
Why does ChatGPT show ads at all?
OpenAI says keeping its unpaid tier and the Go plan fast and reliable requires significant infrastructure and ongoing investment, and that ads help support broader access to ChatGPT without changing how ChatGPT works. Read the guide
Can I remove ads without paying for ChatGPT Plus?
Yes, on the unpaid tier. OpenAI offers a no-ads option there that removes ads but lowers usage limits, such as fewer messages per day and no access to some tools like image generation. Availability varies by region. Read the guide
Will under 18 accounts ever see ads?
No. OpenAI says it does not show ads to accounts identified as belonging to people under 18, using a combination of stated age, account history, usage patterns and general topics discussed. Read the guide
What does a ChatGPT ad actually look like?
A labelled sponsored block below the end of a response, with a title, short copy, usually an image, and a link out, visually separated from the answer above it. A three dot menu on the unit gives options including Hide ad, Report ad and About this ad. Read the guide
Can I see why a specific ad was shown to me?
Yes. The three dot menu on any ad includes an About this ad option that explains why that unit was shown. Read the guide
Do ads appear on every single response?
No. OpenAI says an ad unit appears only when there is a relevant match to what is being discussed, so not every response carries one, and a response that does show one may show more than one unit from one or several advertisers. Read the guide
Ad examples by UAE industry
What image size do ChatGPT ads need?
OpenAI's troubleshooting guide says images must be PNG or JPG, square, no larger than 1200 by 1200 pixels, publicly accessible, and must open directly to the image. Read the guide
How many ad variations should I write?
OpenAI advises a high volume of distinct title and copy variations per offering, each with a different angle, so its system can find more moments where your ad is relevant. Read the guide
Can ChatGPT write my ads inside Ads Manager?
OpenAI's suggested ad drafts feature prefills a draft from your existing website metadata, and OpenAI states it does not generate new copy or imagery with AI. Separately, in our own account we found a Creative text optimization toggle, on by default, that can generate personalised and translated versions of a title and copy you already wrote and show them without your review, which is a different mechanism to the drafts feature. Read the guide
Are these real ads?
No. Every example on this page is an illustration written by gptads.ae to show the format. None is a live ad or a real advertiser. Read the guide
What character limits should ad titles and copy stay within?
OpenAI recommends titles of 16 to 24 characters, 50 maximum, and copy of 32 to 48 characters, 100 maximum. Read the guide
Should every ad link to the homepage?
No. OpenAI's own landing page guidance is to link to the most relevant destination, a specific product, collection or content page, rather than defaulting to a generic homepage. Read the guide
Can the same image be used across several ads in one ad group?
OpenAI does not publish a rule against it. Its own guidance to keep each variation distinct is about title and copy, so if you reuse an image, pair it with clearly different titles and copy rather than repeating the whole ad. Read the guide
Do UAE ads need an Arabic version as well as English?
OpenAI does not publish a language restriction. Our approach is to write separate Arabic and English ads rather than one bilingual unit, since each ad carries a single title and copy field. Read the guide
What happens if an ad built like one of these examples gets rejected?
In Ads Manager, the ad's status shows Not serving, and hovering over it gives the reason, most often a landing page or creative that does not meet OpenAI's ads policies, or a landing page that blocks OpenAI's crawlers. You can edit and resubmit, or request another review. Read the guide
Should a furniture or product business use an ad like the furniture example, or a product feed campaign?
For a catalogue of more than a handful of items, a product feed campaign scales better, since it builds ads from your product data automatically. A single ad like the example here suits one hero product or category, not a full catalogue. Read the guide
How many ads should a real ad group have, beyond the one shown per example here?
Each example shows one ad to illustrate an angle. OpenAI's own guidance is to build for coverage with a high volume of distinct ads per ad group, so a real ad group in any of these industries should hold several, not one. Read the guide
Reporting and attribution
How long do conversions take to show?
OpenAI says to allow 24 to 48 hours for attributed conversions to appear, and that totals may change as recent events are processed. Read the guide
What attribution windows can I choose?
A 7, 14 or 30 day click through window, and either a 1 day view through window or view through switched off. Any combination of the two is supported. Read the guide
Does changing the attribution window change bidding?
No. OpenAI states that changing the reporting window affects reporting only, not optimisation, bidding or billing. Read the guide
Is ChatGPT ads reporting multi touch attribution?
No. OpenAI says the feature uses its existing last touch attribution logic. If both an impression and a click qualify for the same conversion, the click gets the credit. Read the guide
Why is my ChatGPT ads reporting not matching my analytics?
OpenAI lists attribution methods and windows, time zones, event timestamps, consent and browser conditions, deduplication and configuration as normal reasons for a difference. Compare the same date range, time zone and account before assuming an error. Read the guide
Can I add UTM or other parameters to my ChatGPT ads landing pages?
Yes. Dynamic URL parameters, including custom text and macros such as campaign, ad group, ad and account ID, can be set at ad URL, ad, ad group or campaign level, with the most specific level taking precedence. Read the guide
Why does the Products tab look empty after my product feed campaign launched?
The Products tab only lists products with delivery data from an active campaign. It is not a full inventory of your feed, and it can take up to seven hours after delivery begins to populate. Read the guide
What information does OpenAI ask for when reporting looks wrong?
Ad account ID, campaign and ad names, date range and time zone, a CSV export, an analytics comparison, the Pixel ID, event names, sample conversion timestamps and screenshots of the discrepancy. Read the guide
Does ChatGPT ads reporting break out carousel card level metrics for product feed ads?
OpenAI's help centre articles describe product feed ads as one ad template per ad group, showing product images, titles, stars, prices and sales prices. They do not describe a multi card carousel format or card level reporting metrics, so this is not something OpenAI has published. Read the guide
Can I send ChatGPT ads conversions into a CDP or attribution platform instead of reading them in Ads Manager?
Yes, through the measurement partner integrations OpenAI supports, several of which are customer data platform or attribution tools such as Hightouch, LiveRamp, Fospha, Singular, Triple Whale and WorkMagic. Each still relies on the same Pixel ID and Conversions API key issued in Ads Manager. Read the guide
What can I add to a report through Edit columns?
Individual conversion events, Click-through conversions, View-through conversions, Conversions (by conv. time), and attribution window settings, all found under Edit columns on the Campaigns, Ad groups or Ads page. Read the guide
What timezone does ChatGPT ads reporting use?
Your ad account's own timezone, shown and selectable at the bottom of the Campaigns screen in Ads Manager. Note that billing itself is calculated in UTC even though reporting displays in the account timezone, which is worth checking before reconciling an invoice against a daily report. Read the guide
Billing and payments
Is ChatGPT advertising prepaid?
No. OpenAI says ChatGPT Ads uses a postpay model that charges after ads have been delivered, not before. Read the guide
When is my card charged?
When unpaid spend on your account reaches its assigned payment threshold, and again at the end of the month for any balance still outstanding. Read the guide
Can I set an account wide daily spending cap?
Not on a self serve card billed account. OpenAI says the account daily spending limit under Billing, then Account limits is for eligible postpaid invoice accounts only. Self serve advertisers control spend through campaign budgets instead. Read the guide
Why is there a charge I did not expect when I added my card?
It is a temporary authorisation hold in your card's currency, not a completed charge. OpenAI says it is released automatically after verification and may stay visible on your statement for up to 8 days depending on your bank. Read the guide
Does pausing a campaign stop charges immediately?
Not always. OpenAI says campaign updates take time to apply, and ads may keep appearing for up to 24 hours after a pause. Spend from that window is still billable. Read the guide
Can I use a card issued outside the UAE for a UAE ad account?
OpenAI expects your billing information and payment method to match the business entity and country used when the account was created. A card tied to a different country's business may not be accepted. Read the guide
What happens if my card payment fails?
OpenAI says ads may stop delivering and campaigns can show a Not serving status until the payment method is fixed. You will get an email notification, and repeated failures can pause progress toward a higher payment threshold. Read the guide
Ads not showing? Fixes
How long should I wait before worrying about zero impressions?
OpenAI says to allow at least 24 hours after launch, and notes that reporting can lag delivery by up to 7 hours on top of that. Read the guide
Why was my ad rejected?
OpenAI lists two common causes: ad copy or landing pages that do not align with its ads policies, and landing pages that block OpenAI's user agents or IP addresses. Hover over a Not serving status in the Ads tab to see the reason. Read the guide
Why will my image not upload?
Images must be PNG or JPG, square, no larger than 1200 by 1200 pixels, publicly accessible and must open directly to the image, not a preview page or a sign in page. Read the guide
I cannot create an ad account. Why?
If your company already has an OpenAI tenant, an admin must grant you the Ads Admin role in the OpenAI admin console. There is also a ceiling: once you belong to 10 or more ad accounts, created or joined, you cannot create another yourself. Read the guide
Why can I only target the UAE and not Saudi Arabia yet?
OpenAI restricts some new self serve accounts to their home country until identity verification is approved and the account has spent enough there. Selecting other countries in the campaign does not override this. Read the guide
My delivery dropped even though I changed nothing. Why?
OpenAI states that ongoing changes to its delivery systems and models during the beta can cause delivery and spend to fluctuate on their own, separate from anything in your account. Read the guide
Why does my dashboard not match what I was invoiced?
Reporting can take up to 7 hours to reflect delivery, so a recent charge can include spend not yet visible on the dashboard. Confirm you are comparing the same account, campaigns, date range and time zone before assuming an error. Read the guide
ChatGPT ads vs Google Ads
Should I move budget from Google Ads to ChatGPT ads?
Not yet. Keep Google Ads as it is and fund ChatGPT ads as a separate four week test. Move budget only after your own CRM shows a better cost per qualified lead or sale. Read the guide
Do ChatGPT ads have keywords and match types?
No. You write context hints, which OpenAI says are not exact match keywords and do not guarantee delivery in specific conversations. Read the guide
Can I use my Google Ads conversion tracking for ChatGPT ads?
No. ChatGPT ads use OpenAI's own Pixel and Conversions API. UTM tags on your URLs do carry through, so your analytics can still see the traffic. Read the guide
Which is cheaper, ChatGPT ads or Google Ads?
There is no reliable UAE comparison yet. OpenAI suggests starting CPC bids of 3 to 5 US dollars, but real cost depends on the auction and your relevance. Measure both in your own CRM. Read the guide
Does ChatGPT ads have an equivalent to Google's Quality Score?
Not one OpenAI has named or published mechanics for. OpenAI's auction is described as relevance weighted and second price, and relevance comes from your ad, landing page and context hints, which is a similar idea in spirit but not a published, scored metric like Quality Score. Read the guide
Can I run the same landing page for both platforms?
You can, but OpenAI's crawlers, OAI-AdsBot and OAI-SearchBot, must also be able to reach it. A page already tuned for Google's crawler and ad review is not automatically reachable by OpenAI's, especially behind a WAF or CDN with an allowlist. Read the guide
Does ChatGPT ads support automated bidding like Google's Smart Bidding?
OpenAI offers Maximize results, a bid strategy that automatically sets and adjusts bids toward a selected goal such as clicks or conversions, and it is the default for eligible new ad groups. OpenAI states it prioritises result volume and does not guarantee a specific cost target. Read the guide
News and rollout timeline
When did ChatGPT ads start?
OpenAI's help centre says the test began in the United States on 9 February 2026. Read the guide
When did ChatGPT ads open in the UAE?
Index Lab logged the UAE being added to OpenAI's availability table on 16 September 2026. We confirmed the UAE row ourselves on 21 September 2026. Read the guide
How many countries have self service access to ChatGPT ads?
56, counted from OpenAI's availability table on 21 September 2026, including 15 Middle East and North Africa markets. Read the guide
What is coming next for ChatGPT ads?
OpenAI says the next phase brings more markets and additional formats, objectives, buying options and measurement capabilities. It has not published dates. Read the guide
Has the daily budget system changed recently?
Yes. OpenAI recently moved daily budgets to an averaged model over a seven day period rather than a strict same day cap, with spend able to reach up to twice the daily amount on any one day and up to seven times the daily amount across the week. Read the guide
Is there a new automatic bidding option?
Yes. OpenAI introduced Maximize results, a bid strategy that sets and adjusts bids automatically toward a campaign's selected goal, and it is now the default for eligible new ad groups. Read the guide
Are Sponsored Agents available to buy yet?
No. OpenAI's help centre says Sponsored Agents are available only to selected advertisers in a limited alpha test, and OpenAI is not accepting early access requests. Read the guide
Can I target my own customer list on ChatGPT ads now?
Yes. OpenAI's help centre describes custom audiences built from uploaded customer or prospect lists, usable for inclusion targeting, exclusion or ad group bid multipliers, with a 25,000 matched user minimum for inclusion and bid adjustments. Read the guide
Which measurement partners does ChatGPT ads support?
OpenAI's help centre lists Fospha, Hightouch, LiveRamp, Singular, Triple Whale and WorkMagic for web and cross channel measurement, and AppsFlyer, Adjust and Branch for mobile measurement, as of the date verified above. Read the guide
Is there a ChatGPT ads browser plugin or a shopping map feature?
We have not found either documented on OpenAI's own help centre as of the verified date. Some third party trackers describe features in these terms. We do not repeat specifics we cannot source to OpenAI directly, and we mark this unconfirmed until OpenAI's own documentation names it. Read the guide
Sponsored Agents
What are Sponsored Agents in ChatGPT ads?
OpenAI describes Sponsored Agents as an advertising format that lets people chat with an AI representative of a business inside ChatGPT. People open the conversation from an ad to ask questions about the business's products or services. Read the guide
Can I buy a Sponsored Agent for my business right now?
No. OpenAI's help centre says Sponsored Agents are currently available only to selected advertisers in a limited alpha test. Read the guide
Can I request early access to Sponsored Agents?
OpenAI states it is not accepting early access requests at this time, and that it will announce more details about availability and how to participate when it is ready to expand access. Read the guide
Will I see a Sponsored Agent even if I cannot buy one?
Yes. OpenAI says you may see Sponsored Agents in ChatGPT as a user even though the format is not available for your own campaigns. Read the guide
Does chatting with a Sponsored Agent expose my ChatGPT conversation to the advertiser?
OpenAI has not published Sponsored Agent specific privacy mechanics. Its general ads privacy rule is that advertisers only see messages a user sends them directly through an ad, not the surrounding ChatGPT conversation or chat history. Read the guide
Is a Sponsored Agent the same as a chatbot on a company's own website?
No. OpenAI describes it as a representative that opens from an ad inside ChatGPT itself, not a widget embedded on the advertiser's own site. Read the guide
Should a UAE business wait for Sponsored Agents before starting ChatGPT ads?
Our view is no. The standard ad format is available and self service today. Sponsored Agents are alpha only, with no published timeline, so a business ready to test now should start with the standard format. Read the guide
Choosing an agency
Should a ChatGPT ads agency own our account?
No. OpenAI's access model is built around the advertiser business owning the account and inviting others in as members. Individual advertiser onboarding is not supported, and an agency cannot create the account on a client's behalf, so the client entity has to be the one that sets it up. Read the guide
What access level should we give an agency?
OpenAI's roles are Admin, Member and Viewer, and a person receives the highest role granted directly or through a group. Our view is to give the agency Member access to build and run campaigns, and keep at least one of your own people as Admin, since OpenAI requires every account to retain at least one effective admin. Read the guide
Can an agency guarantee a specific cost per lead on ChatGPT ads?
No agency can honestly guarantee this. OpenAI itself states the platform does not yet have performance benchmarks across advertisers, industries or campaign types, and that results depend on your creative, landing page and setup. A guaranteed number is a claim the platform's own documentation contradicts. Read the guide
How long should a first ChatGPT ads test run?
Long enough to produce a meaningful number of qualified leads or sales, not a fixed number of days. Four weeks is a reasonable starting frame, but the real test is volume: OpenAI's own guidance for conversion optimised campaigns warns that an event with too little signal makes performance harder to evaluate. Read the guide
Should we pay an agency a fee based on ad spend?
That is a commercial decision, but it is worth asking what the fee is actually for, since self service access itself is not something an agency sells; a UAE business can open the account directly. Read the guide
What should an agency show us before we agree to a test?
A written plan covering objective, budget, duration, the conversion event being measured, how tracking will be verified, and how results will be judged against your CRM, not just platform reported numbers. Read the guide
Is a low starting daily budget from an agency a red flag?
Not by itself. OpenAI's own minimum in AED is 65 a day. The red flag is a plan that never grows past the minimum long enough to produce a judgable number of leads. Read the guide
What happens to our account if we end the agency relationship?
Nothing changes automatically if the account was created under your own entity, since OpenAI's role model already requires your business to hold at least one effective Admin. Removing the agency's access is an Admin action inside Users and groups, done after another Admin is confirmed in place. Read the guide
Can an agency switch our campaign from a Clicks objective to Conversions once it is running?
No. OpenAI states plainly that a campaign's objective and billing model cannot be changed after creation. An agency proposing to edit an existing campaign into a conversions objective, rather than building a new one, is describing something the platform does not allow. Read the guide
Should we hire a ChatGPT ads specialist agency, or ask our existing Google or Meta agency to add it?
Either can work. The real question is whether whoever runs it understands that context hints replace keywords, that ad groups need distinct coverage rather than one polished ad, and that objective and billing choices are fixed at creation. That knowledge matters more than which agency badge is on the account. Read the guide
Is it a problem if an agency cannot show us an event quality score yet?
Not in the first weeks. OpenAI's own guidance is that the score needs real conversion activity to accumulate before it becomes reliable, and a score is not the same as a guarantee of matching or results. It becomes a concern only if nobody can explain what the score is checking once enough time has passed. Read the guide
Do we need a separate ChatGPT ads agency for Saudi Arabia or other Gulf markets?
Not necessarily the same account, but campaigns should stay separate per country with their own currency, landing pages and Arabic creative. Ask any agency, UAE focused or not, how it keeps Gulf markets from being blended into one unreadable campaign. Read the guide
Daily budgets and pacing
Is a ChatGPT ads daily budget a hard cap?
No. OpenAI treats it as an average spend per day over a seven day period. A single day can bill up to twice the amount you set. Read the guide
Can my ChatGPT ads campaign spend more than seven times my daily budget in a week?
No. OpenAI states the seven day total will not exceed seven times your daily budget, though a mid week budget change reprorates that limit from the moment of the change. Read the guide
What happens if I lower my daily budget mid week?
Ads Manager recalculates your spending limits from that point forward. The prior days already billed at the old rate are not reversed. Read the guide
Why won't Ads Manager let me lower my daily budget?
On fixed bidding, the daily budget must stay at or above the highest effective bid across your active ad groups. Lower the bid first, then the budget. Read the guide
Does changing my bid strategy make my campaign spend faster?
No. OpenAI says changing your bidding strategy does not override campaign total budget pacing, and low bids can still limit delivery regardless of the budget available. Read the guide
Will my campaign total budget definitely last until the end date?
Not necessarily. OpenAI says the end date is the latest date a campaign can deliver, and pacing manages spend over time without guaranteeing the budget lasts the full period. Read the guide
What is the minimum daily budget for a UAE ChatGPT ads account?
AED 65 a day for accounts billed in dirhams. It is set by your account's billing currency, not by the countries you target. Read the guide
Bidding strategies
What bid strategies does ChatGPT ads offer?
Manual: Max bid, where you set a ceiling yourself, and Maximize Results, where ChatGPT Ads sets and adjusts bids automatically toward your campaign goal. Read the guide
Is Maximize Results the default on ChatGPT ads?
Yes, for eligible new ad groups. You can review or switch to Manual: Max bid in the ad group's Bid strategy section before launching. Read the guide
Does Maximize Results guarantee a target cost per result?
No. OpenAI states it prioritises result volume and does not guarantee delivery against a specific CPA, CPC, ROAS or other cost efficiency target. Read the guide
What is Bid Cap on a conversion campaign?
The maximum amount you are willing to bid for a conversion. OpenAI says it is a conversion oriented bid used in the auction, not the price you are actually charged; you are billed for valid clicks under oCPC or impressions under oCPM. Read the guide
Does raising my bid guarantee my ad will show?
No. OpenAI's troubleshooting guidance states raising your bid does not guarantee delivery, because the auction also weighs relevance. Read the guide
What is bid strength guidance?
A signal Ads Manager shows in the ad group setup screen indicating whether your bid is likely to be competitive or may limit delivery. It is separate from the Low bid warning, which OpenAI says uses observed auction performance and can disagree with the general bid recommendation. Read the guide
Can my bid stop my daily budget from being lowered?
Yes, under fixed bidding. The daily budget must stay at or above the highest effective bid across the campaign's active ad groups until you lower that bid first. Read the guide
Ad policies and review
Will ChatGPT ads appear next to sensitive topics?
No. OpenAI states ads are not eligible to appear near sensitive or regulated topics, including personal health, mental health or politics, even for advertisers who are otherwise eligible to run ads. Read the guide
Does OpenAI allow political advertising in ChatGPT?
No. OpenAI states it currently does not allow political advertising in ChatGPT. Read the guide
Can healthcare or finance businesses advertise on ChatGPT?
Some can. OpenAI says advertisers in sensitive or regulated categories such as health and financial services may be eligible if they meet strict eligibility criteria, though OpenAI's help articles do not publish the full list of what those criteria are. Read the guide
Who does not see ads on ChatGPT?
Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu account holders, anyone identified as under 18, and anyone using Temporary Chat. Ads also do not appear in the ChatGPT Atlas browser during this test. Read the guide
Do advertisers see my conversations with ChatGPT?
No. OpenAI states it does not share conversations with advertisers and never sells user data. Advertisers receive only aggregated, non identifying performance figures such as total views or clicks. Read the guide
Why was my ad rejected for a policy reason?
OpenAI names two common causes: ad copy or landing pages that do not align with its ads policies, or a landing page that blocks OpenAI's crawlers. You can edit and resubmit, or request another review. Read the guide
Where can I read OpenAI's full ads policies?
Inside Ads Manager itself. OpenAI's public help articles reference the ads policies repeatedly but do not reproduce the full policy text or a complete list of restricted categories, so the authoritative document lives in the product, not the help center. Read the guide
Ads Manager complete guide
What is the structure of an OpenAI Ads Manager account?
Four levels. One account holds campaigns, each campaign holds ad groups, and each ad group holds ads. Objective and budget live on the campaign, context hints and bid strategy live on the ad group, and creative lives on the ad. Read the guide
Can I change a campaign's objective after I create it?
No. OpenAI says the objective and billing model are not intended to be changed after creation. If you picked wrong, build a new campaign rather than editing the old one. Read the guide
How many campaigns can one ad account hold?
OpenAI's bulk upload limits are 5,000 campaigns, 5,000 ad groups and 5,000 ads per ad account. Read the guide
What is the difference between in-line edits and bulk edits?
In-line edits are quick changes made directly in Ads Manager, such as pausing a campaign or updating one ad's copy. Bulk edits export a schema file, change it, and re-upload it, which OpenAI recommends for structural changes at scale such as updating context hints across many ad groups. Read the guide
Who should hold the ad account admin role?
At least one person inside your company, because OpenAI requires every advertising account to keep at least one effective admin at all times. Agencies are added as members or viewers, not as the sole admin. Read the guide
Why is my campaign showing Not serving after I submitted it?
Hover over the status in Ads Manager for the specific reason. OpenAI lists incomplete account verification, incomplete billing, a campaign date that has not started, exhausted budget, and ad or landing page policy issues as common causes. Read the guide
What is Maximize results and should I use it by default?
It is OpenAI's automatic bid strategy, selected by default for eligible new ad groups, which adjusts bids to get as many clicks or conversions as possible within budget. OpenAI states it does not target a specific CPA, CPC or ROAS, so switch to manual max bid if you need a hard bid ceiling. Read the guide
What does the Ads Manager navigation actually contain?
Left navigation reads Overview, Campaigns, Tools, Billing and Settings. Tools expands into Conversions, Feeds, Change History and Audiences, based on our own account observed on 21 September 2026. Read the guide
Can I use ChatGPT itself to manage my ads?
Yes, for eligible business advertisers. OpenAI's ChatGPT Ads Manager lets you begin self serve account setup and work with supported campaigns, ad groups, ads and performance insights from inside ChatGPT, though available actions can vary and remaining billing, payment, tax or verification steps still finish in Ads Manager. Read the guide
What is a dynamic URL parameter and how does it decide which value wins?
A macro such as {campaign_id} or {ad_group_id} that Ads Manager fills in automatically on the destination URL. Parameters can be set at Ad URL, Ad, Ad Group or Campaign level, and OpenAI's hierarchy gives the most specific level priority: Ad URL beats Ad, which beats Ad Group, which beats Campaign. Read the guide
How many matched users does a custom audience need before I can target it?
At least 25,000 for inclusion targeting or an ad group bid adjustment, with 100,000 recommended by OpenAI. Audiences below 25,000 can still be used for exclusions. Full detail is in our custom audiences guide. Read the guide
Does OpenAI publish what makes a good campaign result?
No. OpenAI states plainly that, as an early platform, ChatGPT Ads does not yet have performance benchmarks across advertisers, industries or campaign types, and that results depend on objective, creative, landing page experience, relevance and overall setup. Read the guide
Does the campaign builder write my ad for me?
It can, if you leave a toggle called Text customisation on. On our own account this defaulted to on, described in the interface as AI automatically generating personalised and translated versions of your headlines and descriptions, which may run without your individual review. Turn it off if you want only the exact words you wrote to appear. Read the guide
What are the minimum and maximum image sizes for a ChatGPT ad?
The builder we saw asked for a square PNG or JPG of at least 256 by 256 pixels. OpenAI's published creative specification separately caps images at no larger than 1200 by 1200 pixels, so the working range sits between those two figures. Read the guide
Bulk upload checklist
Can I bulk upload product feed campaigns?
No. OpenAI states bulk upload does not currently support creating product feed campaigns. Those are built through the guided workflow only. Read the guide
What format do context hints need in the bulk upload file?
A JSON array inside the cell, written like ["hint1", "hint2"]. Plain text or a comma separated list will fail validation. Read the guide
Does a bulk edit add to my existing context hints or replace them?
It replaces them. OpenAI says to treat the uploaded context hints list as the complete value you want live after upload, not as new hints added to the old list. Read the guide
How many rows can one ad account have?
OpenAI's limits are 5,000 campaigns, 5,000 ad groups and 5,000 ads per ad account, and the checklist repeats the same ceiling for each tab of the bulk upload file. Read the guide
What happens if my bulk upload has an error in one row?
Ads Manager can finish processing the file even when individual rows fail, so a completed upload does not mean every row succeeded. Check each row's outcome before deciding what to fix. Read the guide
Is it safe to re-upload the same file after fixing an error?
Only after reconciling what already succeeded. OpenAI warns that re-uploading rows that already created an ad, with the ad ID left blank, can create a duplicate ad. Read the guide
Context hint sets by industry
How many context hints should one ad group have?
OpenAI does not publish a fixed number. Our approach is two to eight per ad group, each covering one distinct idea, grouped around a single product, service or customer need. The sets below run longer than a real ad group needs so you can see the full range and pick the true ones. Read the guide
Can I reuse the same context hints across every ad group in a campaign?
You can, but it works against OpenAI's own guidance to separate ad groups by use case. If two ad groups need the same hints, they are probably the same ad group. Read the guide
Do context hints need to include my city name?
Only if it is true and useful. OpenAI's rule is accuracy, not keyword coverage. Naming a service area you actually cover is fine. Naming a city to try to bias delivery toward it is not how hints work. Read the guide
What is the biggest mistake in these examples?
Writing a hint as an instruction, such as telling the system who to show the ad to, instead of a description of the offer. OpenAI states hints are not targeting rules and do not guarantee delivery to particular audiences. Read the guide
Should regulated businesses like insurance or clinics use context hints differently?
The hints themselves follow the same rules. What changes is eligibility. OpenAI applies stricter review to regulated categories such as health and financial services, and that review happens at the ads policy level, not inside the context hint field. Read the guide
Should a context hint be written in Arabic for a UAE audience?
OpenAI does not publish a language restriction on context hints. Our approach is to write hints in the language your customer would actually type or say to ChatGPT, which for an Arabic speaking audience means writing a genuine Arabic hint rather than translating the English one word for word. Read the guide
Can a context hint mention a price?
Yes, if it is accurate and current. OpenAI's own example, an $89 service call fee for a plumber, includes a price. The requirement is that hints stay accurate as pricing changes, not that pricing is excluded. Read the guide
How is a context hint different from the ad title and copy?
The title and copy are what a person sees in the ad unit. Context hints are never shown to anyone. They exist only to help OpenAI's system understand when your ad group is relevant, and OpenAI says a hint should add information not already obvious from the ad or landing page. Read the guide
Do context hints work the same way for a product feed campaign?
Context hints sit at ad group level, and a product feed ad group uses product filters rather than hand written hints for individual items. For a feed based catalogue, see our product feed guide rather than the industry sets below. Read the guide
What happens if a context hint becomes inaccurate after I write it?
OpenAI is explicit that hints should be updated when features, pricing, promotions, availability or service areas change. A stale hint describing a promotion that ended, or a service area you no longer cover, works against your own relevance. Read the guide
Can one context hint cover two different customer needs at once?
OpenAI's guidance is one clear idea per hint. A hint trying to cover two needs at once, for example a price point and a delivery area and a use case all in one sentence, is harder for the system to use than three separate, focused hints. Read the guide
Custom audiences
What file formats does OpenAI accept for a custom audience?
A valid UTF-8 CSV or TXT file, up to 500 MB. A UTF-8 byte order mark is accepted. TXT files need one identifier per line, CSV files need a header row naming each identifier column. Read the guide
How many matched users do I need to target a custom audience?
At least 25,000 matched users for inclusion targeting or audience bid adjustments. OpenAI recommends at least 100,000 for either use. Audiences below 25,000 matched users can still be used for exclusions. Read the guide
Can I upload a plain email list without hashing it?
Yes. OpenAI accepts plain email addresses, plain phone numbers, SHA-256 hashed emails, SHA-256 hashed phone numbers or Google Advertising IDs, and you can mix identifier types in the same CSV. Read the guide
How long does it take for an uploaded audience to be ready?
OpenAI says processing usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes, though it can vary with file size. The audience shows a Processing status until it is Ready. Read the guide
Are custom audiences available for campaigns targeting Europe?
OpenAI advises avoiding custom audiences for campaigns targeting the EEA or Switzerland while ads personalisation is unavailable there. This does not affect UAE campaigns. Read the guide
What happens to my uploaded audience file after processing?
OpenAI deletes uploaded audience files after processing, usually no later than 24 hours after upload. Read the guide
Conversion optimised campaigns
What is the difference between oCPC and oCPM on ChatGPT ads?
Both optimise delivery toward a conversion event you choose. oCPC bills you for valid clicks and optimises toward conversions that follow a click. oCPM bills you for impressions served and optimises toward a broader set of eligible conversions, including some that follow a view without a click. Read the guide
Does a conversion optimised campaign mean I pay per conversion?
No. OpenAI states this directly. With oCPC you are billed for valid clicks. With oCPM you are billed for impressions served. The conversion event only decides what the system optimises delivery toward. Read the guide
What does Bid Cap actually control?
Bid Cap is the maximum amount you are willing to pay for a conversion, used by the system to determine an auction bid based on predicted conversion likelihood. It is not the price you are guaranteed to pay, and your actual cost per click or per 1,000 impressions is still set by the auction. Read the guide
Can I change the objective or event after a campaign is created?
No. OpenAI is explicit that the campaign objective, billing model and conversion event cannot be changed after creation. To use a different one, you create a new campaign, and you can clone an existing campaign as a starting point for a new oCPM version. Read the guide
Can I optimise toward a custom conversion event?
Not currently. OpenAI states that custom conversion events are not supported for conversion optimised campaigns. At least one supported standard event has to be available before you create the campaign. Read the guide
Is there a recommended Bid Cap amount?
No. OpenAI states there is no recommended bid amount for conversion optimised campaigns. It advises reviewing performance over enough volume before making large changes to bids, budgets or creative. Read the guide
Will clicks still matter if I choose oCPM?
Yes. OpenAI says clicks remain a valuable signal of interest and conversions that follow a click continue to matter under oCPM. Impression billing widens the set of eligible signals, it does not remove clicks from consideration. Read the guide
Is Maximize Results the default bid strategy for a conversion optimised campaign?
Maximize Results is selected by default for eligible new ad groups generally, optimising toward your campaign goal automatically. You can switch to Manual: Max bid, which for a Conversions campaign is where you set the Bid Cap yourself. Read the guide
Why is my conversion optimised campaign not getting impressions?
OpenAI's troubleshooting guidance points first at campaign and ad status, account verification and billing, budget and spending allowance, and then specifically at whether your bid reflects the selected conversion rather than a click, alongside any ad group bid warnings. Read the guide
How many conversion events can one campaign optimise toward?
One. Each conversion optimised campaign uses exactly one selected conversion event, chosen at creation, and it cannot be changed afterwards. Read the guide
Can I clone a campaign to move from oCPC to oCPM?
You cannot switch a live campaign's billing model, but OpenAI notes you can clone an existing campaign to create a new oCPM version, which carries over structure without carrying over the locked objective, billing model or event. Read the guide
Does raising my Bid Cap guarantee more conversions?
No. OpenAI's troubleshooting guidance states that raising a bid does not guarantee delivery generally, and for conversion campaigns specifically it advises confirming the bid reflects the selected conversion before assuming a higher number alone will fix low delivery. Read the guide
Event quality
What does event quality actually measure?
Whether the conversion information received from your data source is useful for measurement. OpenAI is explicit that the score and its warnings do not predict campaign performance and do not guarantee that a conversion will match to an ad. Read the guide
How often does my event quality score update?
It refreshes daily using seven complete calendar days of data, with extra time allowed for recent events to arrive. If a refresh is delayed, your previous score stays visible until a newer one is ready. Read the guide
Why do I have no event quality score at all?
OpenAI lists several reasons: no configured conversion goals, not enough conversion activity yet, not enough attribution evidence, limited information for a specific check, or data still being processed. None of these mean your business has no real conversions. Read the guide
Should I send extra events to improve my score?
No. OpenAI's guidance is explicit: only send information you are permitted to share, use real customer information and real business actions, and do not send extra events, invent identifiers or change event times to improve a score. Read the guide
What is the fastest fix for the missing click information warning?
Preserve the oppref parameter through every redirect and page navigation between the ad click and the confirmation page, and if you send conversions through the Conversions API, pass that same click information into the server event. Read the guide
Does a low event quality score mean my ads are performing badly?
No. OpenAI states the score does not predict campaign performance. It is a diagnostic on your measurement setup, not a verdict on your ads or targeting. Read the guide
Can I contact OpenAI support about an event quality warning?
Yes, if events are accurate and a warning persists after you have checked the likely causes. Include the data source, the affected event names, the date range and the checks you have already completed. Read the guide
Does event quality check custom conversion events?
Not fully. The limited event types observed check, which looks at browsing, intermediate and completed outcome activity, explicitly excludes custom events. Other checks that look at matching information and timing apply to eligible events generally. Read the guide
Why does one conversion goal show a warning while another on the same data source looks healthy?
The limited activity for a configured conversion goal warning is goal specific. OpenAI states other goals attached to the same data source can have healthy activity while one goal shows the warning, so check the specific goal named, not the whole data source. Read the guide
Can duplicate events hurt my event quality score even if the sales are real?
Yes, indirectly. The conversion matches need review and many conversions linked to the same ad interaction warnings can appear when the same action is sent more than once with different event IDs, even though the underlying business activity is genuine. Read the guide
Should I check event quality before or after launching a conversion optimised campaign?
Before, where possible. A conversion optimised campaign can only optimise toward events it receives with enough quality to be usable, so a healthy score before launch reduces the chance of an early campaign learning from weak signal. Read the guide
What information does OpenAI ask for if a warning will not clear?
The data source, the affected event names, the date range, and the specific checks you have already completed to confirm the underlying events are accurate. Read the guide
Measurement partners
Which measurement partners does ChatGPT ads support?
On the date verified above, OpenAI lists Fospha, Hightouch, LiveRamp, Singular, Triple Whale and WorkMagic as web and cross channel measurement partners, and AppsFlyer, Adjust and Branch as mobile measurement partners. Read the guide
Do I need a developer to connect a measurement partner?
Most connections need a Pixel ID and a Conversions API key generated inside Ads Manager, then entered into the partner's own integration screen. Mobile app attribution links usually need a mobile engineering resource to implement inside the app. Read the guide
Is mobile app attribution for ChatGPT ads click based or view based?
Click based. OpenAI states that attribution for AppsFlyer, Adjust and Branch integrations uses the attribution link generated by the measurement partner in the corresponding campaign, and attribution windows are configured inside that partner, not inside Ads Manager. Read the guide
How long until a measurement partner integration shows conversions?
OpenAI advises allowing 24 to 48 hours for attributed events to appear in the Conversions metric in Ads Manager, the same lag that applies to direct Pixel and Conversions API events. Read the guide
Do I still need the OpenAI Pixel if I use a measurement partner?
Most partner integrations are built on top of the same Pixel ID and Conversions API key issued in Ads Manager, so the underlying OpenAI measurement setup still needs to exist. The partner adds routing, modelling or cross platform reporting on top of it. Read the guide
What do I do if conversions are not appearing after connecting a mobile measurement partner?
OpenAI's checklist is to confirm the partner integration is active, verify the Pixel ID and Conversions API key, confirm event names are mapped correctly, confirm the correct tracking link is used in the campaign, confirm the conversion is attached to the campaign, and test with a new eligible ad click before allowing 24 to 48 hours for reporting. Read the guide
OpenAI crawlers and robots.txt
Which OpenAI crawler is required for ChatGPT ads?
OAI-AdsBot. OpenAI states it is required for ChatGPT ads landing page validation and review, and advertisers should prioritise it. OAI-SearchBot is recommended in addition, because it may help OpenAI understand public web content. Read the guide
What does my robots.txt need to say?
OpenAI's own example is User-agent: OAI-SearchBot, Allow: / and User-agent: OAI-AdsBot, Allow: /, confirming both crawlers are explicitly allowed to access the relevant pages and paths. Read the guide
Why was my ad rejected even though my landing page works fine in a browser?
A landing page that blocks OpenAI's crawlers, through robots.txt, a firewall, bot mitigation or a CAPTCHA, can fail ad review even though a human visitor sees the page normally, because the crawler is what validates the page, not a human tester. Read the guide
Can OpenAI support manually bypass a crawler block?
No. OpenAI states not to rely on a manual bypass. The landing page has to actually be made crawlable for OAI-AdsBot, by fixing robots.txt, WAF, CDN, bot mitigation, authentication or rate limiting, and ads may need to be re-uploaded after the fix. Read the guide
Does Cloudflare block OpenAI's ad crawler by default?
OpenAI states that OAI-AdsBot is officially verified and allowlisted by Cloudflare, though other bot protection layers on top of Cloudflare, such as custom firewall rules, can still block it. Read the guide
Should I allowlist OpenAI's crawlers by IP address?
OpenAI advises against relying solely on short term IP observations from logs, since crawler infrastructure can change. If a stable IP range is required, it points to openai.com/searchbot.json and openai.com/adsbot.json, combined with user agent identification and provider level bot verification. Read the guide
Are app store links or login protected pages supported as ChatGPT ads landing pages?
OpenAI recommends a directly reachable web landing page whenever possible. App store links, deep links, documents, or destinations needing an app, login, region restricted access or unsupported redirects may not provide enough crawlable content for validation. Read the guide
ChatGPT ads login
Where do I log in to ChatGPT ads?
At ads.openai.com. Sign in with the OpenAI account tied to the organisation your ad account was created under. Read the guide
Do I need a special ChatGPT ads account, separate from ChatGPT itself?
No. You sign in with a standard OpenAI account. Ads Manager access is then granted separately, per advertising account, through a role such as Admin, Member or Viewer. Read the guide
Why can I sign in but not see my ad account?
Being a member of an OpenAI organisation does not by itself grant the Admin role needed to finish account setup or see an advertising account. An existing account Admin has to assign you a role for that specific account. Read the guide
Why can't I create a new ad account?
Two common reasons. You may lack the Ads Admin role in your company's OpenAI tenant, or you may already belong to 10 or more ad accounts, which is the ceiling for self service account creation. Read the guide
Can I still be invited to an account once I am at the 10 account limit?
Yes. The limit blocks you from creating another account yourself. You can still be invited to additional existing accounts beyond 10. Read the guide
I forgot which OpenAI account I used to sign up. What do I check?
Confirm you are trying the work email tied to your company's OpenAI tenant, not a personal email, since Ads Manager access is granted to a specific sign in identity, not to a person in the abstract. Read the guide
Can an agency log in to run our ChatGPT ads account?
Yes, once invited. OpenAI's access model expects the client business to create and own the account, then invite the agency as a Member or Admin using the email address the agency signs in to OpenAI with. Read the guide
The OpenAI Pixel
What is the ChatGPT ads pixel?
The OpenAI Pixel, a JavaScript snippet installed on your website that captures conversion events and the oppref click reference so OpenAI can measure results from ChatGPT ads. Read the guide
Where do I get my Pixel ID?
In Ads Manager, under the Conversions section, create a data source. This gives you both a Pixel ID and a Conversions API key together. Read the guide
Do I need the Pixel if I already use the Conversions API?
OpenAI recommends using both together for more resilient measurement, since each recovers events the other one misses. The Pixel is quick to install and captures the click reference automatically; the Conversions API is not affected by browser blockers. Read the guide
What is the shared event ID for?
When the same conversion is sent through both the Pixel and the Conversions API, using the same event ID lets OpenAI deduplicate it into one conversion instead of counting it twice. Read the guide
Can I install the Pixel through Google Tag Manager?
Yes, as long as the tag manager loads the Pixel snippet on the right pages and does not block or reorder its initialisation and event calls. If it prevents reliable loading, install the snippet directly instead. Read the guide
Why does my Pixel show 0 conversions even though it is firing?
A firing, accepted event can still show 0 if it does not match the conversion event configured for the campaign. For standard events the type must match; for custom events the name must match exactly, not just the display name. Read the guide
Does automatic advanced matching require a code change?
No. The Pixel detects supported customer information already present in recognisable forms on your site, then normalises and hashes it in the browser with SHA-256 before sending it. OpenAI states raw customer information is not sent through this feature. Read the guide
Shopping ads on ChatGPT
What are ChatGPT shopping ads?
There is no separate product called shopping ads. The term describes product feed campaigns, a campaign type in OpenAI Ads Manager that turns your store's product catalogue into ads shown as items are discussed inside ChatGPT. Read the guide
Do my products show up organically in ChatGPT if I upload a feed?
No. OpenAI states products from a feed are only eligible for use in ads during this beta and will not appear in organic ChatGPT conversations, though it may offer that capability in future. Read the guide
How often does my product feed need to update?
Items expire after two weeks. OpenAI recommends a hosted URL your platform regenerates automatically, or an SFTP connection, rather than a manual file a person has to remember to reupload. Read the guide
Can I bulk upload a shopping campaign by CSV?
No. Ads Manager CSV bulk upload does not currently support creating product feed campaigns. They are built through the guided campaign flow only. Read the guide
What does a ChatGPT shopping ad actually show?
Product ads use a format built for catalogue items: OpenAI lists product images, titles, stars, prices, sale prices and your brand. Read the guide
How do I measure sales from a ChatGPT shopping ad?
The same way as any other ChatGPT ads objective: install the OpenAI Pixel and the Conversions API on your store, sending a purchase event with order value, before you launch the feed campaign. Read the guide
Should a Shopify, Salla or Zid store use a hosted feed or a manual upload?
A hosted feed URL your platform regenerates on a schedule. A manually uploaded CSV works for a first test but will silently expire after two weeks if nobody refreshes it. Read the guide
ChatGPT ads glossary
What is a context hint in ChatGPT ads?
A natural language phrase, written at ad group level, that describes what you offer, who it helps and when it is useful. OpenAI states context hints are not exact match keywords and do not guarantee delivery. Read the guide
What does oppref mean?
OpenAI's click reference. It is appended to a landing page URL after an ad click, in the form oppref=gAAAAAb123, and the OpenAI Pixel stores it so a later conversion can be tied back to that click. Read the guide
What is the difference between oCPC and oCPM?
Both are conversion optimised billing options. oCPC bills per valid click while optimising toward a conversion event. oCPM bills per 1,000 impressions while optimising toward the same kind of event across a wider set of exposures. Read the guide
What is Maximize Results in ChatGPT ads?
A bid strategy where Ads Manager sets and adjusts bids automatically toward your selected campaign goal. It is selected by default for eligible new ad groups and does not guarantee a specific cost outcome. Read the guide
What is a payment threshold in ChatGPT ads billing?
The amount of unpaid spend that can accrue on a self service card billed account before the saved payment method is charged. It is a charge trigger, not a spending cap. Read the guide
What does Not serving mean on a ChatGPT ad?
A status shown when an ad is not currently delivering. Hovering over it in Ads Manager shows the reason, commonly a policy mismatch, an incomplete account setup, or a landing page blocking OpenAI's crawlers. Read the guide
What is a data source in ChatGPT ads?
A connection created in the Conversions section of Ads Manager that generates a Pixel ID and a Conversions API key, used to send conversion events back to the platform. Read the guide
ChatGPT ads for lead generation
Which campaign objective is best for lead generation on ChatGPT ads?
A Conversions campaign optimised toward a lead submission event once tracking is proven, started from a Clicks campaign if you are still setting up measurement. OpenAI requires at least one supported standard conversion event before a Conversions campaign can be created. Read the guide
What event should a service business send as its conversion?
A lead submission, such as a form fill or a click to chat action, is the usual choice. OpenAI's own guidance is that a completed outcome that happens too rarely can be too sparse a signal on its own, so many advertisers also track an intermediate action alongside it. Read the guide
How do I track a sale that closes on WhatsApp or by phone?
Capture the oppref click reference with the lead the moment it enters your CRM, then send the outcome back through the Conversions API once the lead becomes a real sale, tagged with the original click reference and timestamp. Read the guide
Does a higher quality lead cost more on ChatGPT ads?
OpenAI does not publish a cost relationship between lead quality and price. What it does state is that conversion optimised campaigns need a real, supported event to optimise toward, and a poor quality or mismatched event can make delivery harder to judge. Read the guide
Can I optimise toward a custom lead event, like a specific form on my site?
Not directly for a conversion optimised campaign. OpenAI states custom conversion events are not currently supported for optimisation; at least one supported standard event is required. Read the guide
How long should a lead generation test run on ChatGPT ads?
Our view is a minimum of four weeks with a budget sized to reach roughly 15 or more leads, since a shorter or thinner test rarely produces enough volume to judge cost per lead fairly. Read the guide
Should the landing page be the same for the ad and for Google or Meta traffic?
It can be, but a page built for the specific need in the ad group, rather than a general services page, is what OpenAI's own creative guidance and our own testing both point to for a stronger connection between ad and outcome. Read the guide
ChatGPT ads for ecommerce
Which objective should an online store use on ChatGPT ads?
A Conversions campaign optimised toward a purchase event, once tracking is proven. Start on Clicks first if your Pixel and Conversions API are not yet validated, since a Conversions campaign requires at least one supported standard event before it can be created. Read the guide
Does the purchase event need to include order value?
OpenAI's reporting shows Order Created Sales and Order Created ROAS calculated only from attributed order_created events, so sending value with your purchase event is what makes a return on spend figure possible rather than only a conversion count. Read the guide
Should a store use a product feed campaign or standard ads?
Most stores benefit from both: a feed campaign covering the catalogue broadly, since OpenAI states feed based ads have been among its strongest performers, alongside a small standard campaign for a hero offer or seasonal push a feed cannot express. Read the guide
What is the minimum budget for an ecommerce test on ChatGPT ads?
It depends on billing currency, AED 65 a day for a dirham account. That floor is enough to see the platform work, not enough to judge return on spend, which needs enough purchases to be statistically meaningful. Read the guide
How is oCPM different from oCPC for a store with a longer browse to purchase gap?
oCPM bills per 1,000 impressions while weighing a wider set of exposures, including a person who saw an ad, left, and purchased later without clicking it again. oCPC bills per valid click and optimises toward conversions that follow that click specifically. Read the guide
Can ChatGPT ads track cart abandonment?
OpenAI has not published a specific cart abandonment feature. A store can track an add to cart or checkout started event as an intermediate action alongside the purchase event, within OpenAI's general conversion measurement setup. Read the guide
How long should an ecommerce test run before judging ROAS?
Our view is four weeks minimum, sized to reach enough purchases to be meaningful, since a handful of orders either way can swing a reported return on spend figure without reflecting a real trend. Read the guide
Connect Google Ads to ChatGPT
Can I actually connect Google Ads to ChatGPT?
Yes, in three general ways: upload an exported report to a chat, use a live connector or MCP server if your ChatGPT plan and Google Ads access support one, or feed a Google Sheet from the Google Ads API or a third party connector and point ChatGPT at that sheet. Which menus and plans support a live connector changes, so check OpenAI's current documentation before you plan around a specific one. Read the guide
Is this the same as OpenAI Ads Manager?
No. OpenAI Ads Manager is the platform for buying ChatGPT's own ad inventory, the sponsored units that appear below an answer. Connecting Google Ads to ChatGPT is the opposite direction: using ChatGPT as an analyst on an account you already run elsewhere. The two can sit side by side but they are unrelated products. Read the guide
What is an MCP server, in plain terms?
Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets an assistant like ChatGPT call an external tool or read external data through a defined interface, rather than you copying and pasting data in manually. An MCP server built for an ad platform is one implementation of that standard, aimed at one specific data source. Read the guide
Is it safe to connect my ad account to ChatGPT?
It can be, if the connection is read only, uses a dedicated login rather than your own, carries no billing or payment permission, and you have checked what the connector's own provider does with the data it reads. Treat it the same way you would treat handing an intern log in access: least privilege, and revocable in one click. Read the guide
Can ChatGPT pause my Google Ads campaigns or change my budget on its own?
Only if you have granted it write access and told it to, and only through a connector or workflow built to allow that action. A read only connection cannot change anything, and we recommend starting there regardless of what write access a given tool offers. Read the guide
What permissions should I give a connected ChatGPT?
The minimum the task needs. For analysis, that is read only reporting access, on a dedicated user or service account, with no access to billing, payment methods or account level user management. Read the guide
Can I connect Meta Ads, TikTok Ads or LinkedIn Ads to ChatGPT the same way?
The same three routes apply: export and upload, a live connector or MCP server where one exists for that platform, or an API feed into a sheet. Each platform's own export tools and API differ in detail, but the security checklist is the same for all of them. Read the guide
Does connecting my ad account to ChatGPT cost anything extra?
It depends on the route. Uploading exported files costs nothing beyond your existing ChatGPT plan. A live connector may require a specific ChatGPT plan tier, and an API or script based feed into a sheet may involve a third party connector tool with its own pricing. Check the current terms of whichever plan or tool you are considering. Read the guide
What is the simplest way to get Google Ads data into ChatGPT for a one off question?
Export the report you want from Google Ads as a CSV, upload it to a ChatGPT conversation, and ask a specific question about it. No connector, no API, no setup, and nothing is granted ongoing access to your account. Read the guide
Can an agency use this to report on client ad accounts?
Yes, and the same rule applies as everywhere else in this field: use a dedicated login the client's account grants to the agency with the narrowest role available, never the client's own admin credentials, and never paste a client's customer level personal data into a chat. Read the guide
